This February sees the return of the highly celebrated e-Luminate Cambridge festival, a contemporary arts festival for a city at the forefront of scientific and technological research. The event offers a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to the city to uncover the richness and diversity of Cambridge’s iconic buildings and public spaces in a new light, where light will collide with the imagination of participants; connecting science, technology and arts through a series of installations, activities, talks and concerts.
The festival runs from 10th – 15th of February and plays host to an array of events around the city, from a light painting or a make your own Hologram workshop to a wine tasting event.
The Big Switch on of the e-Luminate Cambridge light spectacular takes place in Cambridge Market Square on Friday 10th of February at 6.30pm, coinciding with this the Night Market will host a number of local arts and crafts, live entertainment, and food stalls in the heart of the City.
Want to make a night of it? The opening concert of the Festival is also happening on this date and will feature Dark Room, a multi-sensory journey through darkness to the light, performed by New York dancer Giorgia Bovo with Jazz pianist Andrea Manzoni and projection artist Simone Bosco. Also performing is Cambridge’s ground-breaking musical collective; We Are Sound will use 120 voices and instruments to get under the skin of some of the world’s best tracks in collaboration with projection artist Jack Beccegato and Carlo Fiorini.
